A study on the change of the list of medical textbooks during the era of King Sejong and Sejo

Abstract

Medical school books in the Joseon Dynasty can examine the changes through various records. Looking at the records, it can be seen that the list of medical textbooks suddenly changed a lot between the early Joseon Dynasty and the early Joseon Dynasty. However, since there are not many studies on this yet, this study was conducted and the following causes were identified.
The first is the compilation project of 醫類聚聚.The date of compilation of 醫類聚』ㅇㅢ is clearly related to the period because it spans the years of ㄱㅘㄱㅘㄱㅘ and ㅇㅕㄴ ㅇㅕㄴ.
The second problem is the difficulty of the medical examination during the Joseon Dynasty. Medical tests in the Joseon Dynasty were very difficult. Therefore, I found it too unrealistic to keep 25 or 26 textbooks.
Third, there was the problem of supply and demand of medical textbooks. If you look at the actual price of the book at that time, the price was very high. So owning 25 or 26 medical books for an individual was very hard work.
This study was able to confirm various circumstantial evidence. However, more historical materials should be discovered in the future and research should be conducted to more accurately grasp the current situation of the time.
